Memorial to Luba Blum-Bielicka, Ulica Marianska 1

A plaque commemorating Luba Blum-Bielicka, head of the Jewish Nurses School, on a building at 1 Marianska Street. During the war she worked at the hospital on Gesia Street. She had an "iron hand" and a "characteristic Wilno drawl," according to Adina Blady Szwajger's I Remember Nothing More (Collins, 1990). She survived the war, but by then the city of Wilno was in Lithuania, in the Soviet Union.
